LOL WUT?
So, who here is a band geek?

What instrument do you play?

Who are your favorite composers for concert band? Songs?

I'm a mega band geek :D I play Tenor Saxophone, Alto Saxophone, and Bass Clarinet. I've also played Clarinet in band before, but haven't in 2 years. My favorite composers are Steven Reineke, and James Swearingen...but Victor Lopez has written some pretty good stuff. Invicta (James Swearingen), Pacifica (Robert Buckley), Seasons of Love (Jonathan Larsson/Jay Bocook), The Witch And The Saint (Steven Reineke), and Love, Hope, Peace And Happiness (Victor Lopez) are my favorites :)

Clarinet for four years! I like David Maslanka. We did a song called "Rollo Takes a Walk" by him two years ago and everyone loved or hated it. I loved it, mostly because I got to be part of a kazoo soli/duet with piccolo. There's another guy that's pretty good, we did almost strictly his songs last year.

EDIT: Gustav Holst is who I was thinking of.

In Soviet Florida, you can have concert and jazz band full year.

They're two separate classes that are both full year. And I have marching band practice today for three hours <_< .

So, does anyone on MT play in a band that isn't related to school?

I've been thinking of joining the community Jazz band..the only thing that throws me off is that I'd be the youngest in the band.

I've been playing clarinet for just about 6 years now. I've had a wood clarinet for about 5 of them.

My favorite composers are Steven Reineke and Frank Ticheli. My favorite pieces are Fate of the Gods (Reineke), Vesuvius (Ticheli), and Fantasy on a Japanese Folk Song (Samuel R. Hazo).

In terms of bands unrelated to school, I'm in 3, but I'm the sole member in all of 'em. :'(

Hooray! I also played bass clarinet for a brief stint last semester until I had enough of the immature people in concert band and got into wind ensemble where I rightfully belong. :D
