The Doors

The Doors, they forever changed the FCC by saying "Higher" on the Ed Sullivan Show. They altered the face of music with their outlandish performances at the time. Even though Jim Morrison was a poet and not a rock star, he went for it, and touched many people with his music, but eventually passed away at the young age of 27. The rest of the band tried to go on without Jim, but it just wasn't the same. Shortly after they disbanded. So let's discuss The Doors.

Is there a point to this thread? It seems more like a history of kind of thing. :D Are we supposed to discuss them?

I love The Doors, they're one of the best bands ever. They were very influential and changed music forever.

Whoot!

As of now I only have a "The Best Of. . ." CD(two CDs actually) which is primarily in possesion of my sister. I do, however, have the songs on the computer and iPod so I can listen to them then. What do you people think is their best CD(if you can pick one)?

I got their Best of for Christmas, and it's absolutely amazing (especially on a new 6 speaker surround sound system :P). I have most of their stuff on my computer, I just like having a hard copy of these things. I'd say their best album is The Doors, like half of that CD is on their greatest hits. Although L.A. Woman is an amazing record as well.

On another note, I had the CD on when my family started coming over and my uncle came in and started talking about how the Doors were his favorite band, which was pretty cool considering he's known to love techno and opera lol. He was also talking about how everytime he goes to Paris he visits Morrison's grave (he's an avid traveler, he's been everywhere, and Paris is his favorite city), which I thought is pretty awesome also. Btw, he swears by The Soft Parade.

:ahh: Why am I (nearly) the only one in the Classic rock section?! :ahh:

My friend Santiago keeps trying to make me listen to "Riders on the Storm" with Snoop Dogg. . .

^That sounds terrible. I hate when rappers and DJ's ruin classic tracks

I refuse to listen to it. . .That "cover"(by who I don't know) of Crazy Train by Ozzy was horrible and that "cover"(P-Diddy/Puff Daddy/Diddy) of Kashmir was even worse. . .

Yeah, there was also a "cover" of Jimi's version of "All Along The Watchtower" I heard a couple months ago. Almost kicked my stereo in.

Well, Jimi's version was a cover. . .but I imagine the "cover" you heard involved destruction of the song?

^Yeah, it involved rapping over the amazing guitar in the beginning. Then I shut it off.
