Hello, thank you for considering contributing to Music-Talk. We greatly appreciate contributions, but before you get started submitting one, please check out these guidelines. If these are not followed, your contribution will be declined.

When submitting any contribution, be sure to proof read for grammatical and spelling errors. It is suggested that you paste your contribution into Microsoft Word or a similar program in order to catch any errors you may have missed. Contributions with a large amount of errors will be declined.


Articles
Articles fall under one of the following categories: Music & Instruments (includes miscellaneous items), Music Theory, or Singing & Songwriting

Please follow this format when posting:

Topic Title: [Name of Article]
Topic Description: [Category]

Then enter the contents of your article in the post box. After about a week of being "showcased" in the main forum, it will be moved to the applicable subforum.


Music Reviews
Music reviews can cover CDs, DVDs, concerts, books, or any other music-related item.

Please follow this format when posting:

Topic Title: [Band Name] - [Album name/DVD name/Concert location & date]
Topic Description: Rating: [Your numeric rating of the item]

Then enter your review in the post box. Be sure to include the following or your review will not be accepted:
  • A rating out of 5. You may include a half-star, such as "3.5"
  • Track listing. Including the song durations and track numbers is helpful as well.
  • Picture of the album cover. It must be hosted on a site like Photobucket or Imageshack and be at least 200px by 200px.
It is recommended that you write the review as an overview rather than breaking it down song-by-song. After about a week of being "showcased," it will be moved into the applicable forum within a few days.


Gear Reviews
The subcategories of Gear reviews fall under whatever type of gear or accessory the item is. For example: Guitar, Amp, Pickups, Keyboard, etc. Please include this in the topic title.

Topic Title: [Brand] [Name of Model] [Subcategory/Type]
Topic Description: Rating: [Your numeric rating of the item]

Then enter your review in the post box. Be sure to include the following or your review will not be accepted:
  • A rating out of 5. You may include a half-star, such as "3.5"
  • Important specifications or features. Please list these at the beginning of the review. An example would be something like "24 jumbo frets, maple fretboard, alder body, 2 tone/1 volume controls" for a guitar review.
  • Picture of the item. It must be hosted on a site like Photobucket or Imageshack and be at least 200px by 200px.
After about a week of being "showcased," it will be moved into the applicable forum within a few days.


Please do NOT post SoTM entries in this forum, they go in the Writer's Corner. Please put any questions about the site or contributions in Site Discussion.
