The shop and The Emporium aren't really being used, and I certainly don't think it's encouraging new contributions. It seems like more of a novelty than anything at this point. If we were to remove it, we would go back to a display similar to the MT Points scoreboard to show how many contributions everyone has. We're still open to keeping it, we would just need a reason to do so, so if you'd like to see it stick around, please provide us with one. And if you don't mind it going away, let us know that too.

By limiting it by time and stock, it prevents loading times from skyrocketing, but having them accumulate would be a problem if there were 10 (maybe less, depending on which ones) items purchased. Looking through the shop, all the Account Modifications that don't affect load times, with the exception of Aristocrat Membership (which will be removed anyway), are already permanent. As far as the Site Modifications, there has to be a stock limit on it because otherwise they become extremely difficult to manage. For example, if 5 people buy a personal theme, then sorting through or editing themes in the ACP becomes arduous, or if everyone buys a word filter, posts would become unreadable, lol. So since stock is limited, time has to be limited so that more than one person gets a chance to purchase the item. The only two other items to which these problems don't really apply that could be made permanent (besides custom emoticon, which is already permanent) are personal forum (which we are planning to do something similar for free) and custom webpage. Then there's also the problem where eventually you could acquire all items in the shop that you want, at which point there would be no incentive to keep gaining Notes.

One of the things Ana and I decided on was that we are going to remove the Aristocrat group. It's pretty pointless when all but 1 or 2 of our active users are in it, and those that aren't will eventually get there anyway. How about if we do this though: to make up for some of the stuff lost with the removal of the shop, users with over 1,000 posts can do the following: Change their username Customize their username's formatting and color (and have a symbol in front) Have their own pip Have a smiley of their choosing added to the board One other thing that I'll talk about in the next couple of days I'd have to think about adding personal theme and custom webpage to this list. Does that sound all right? It's subject to Ana's approval, but if you guys like it I'm sure we can work things out.

Because I wanted to mess with those I'm just too stingy Having some of them as rewards for contributions is a very good idea. We'll make the items that can be made permanent for users with over 1,000 posts, and the temporary things for site contributions. I think that's a pretty good compromise and it's an easier to manage than the money system. It will probably be a couple weeks before we have the exact info worked out, because I'd like Ana to be here before that, but any contributions submitted from now on will be rewarded in that way.
