why do all the sections in here closely revolve around the same style of music? You could have easily put all of them into one folder called "Rock/Punk/Metal" and then have other sections for other music rather than just dumping everything else in one folder?

Dinkin' flicka.

It's based on demand. If we had a "Rock/Punk/Metal" forum, it would have well over 300 threads in it. Instead, the most popular genres get their own forums to make it more organized. If one genre doesn't have very many threads, it is grouped into the Everything Else forum because it would be ridiculous to have, say, a rap or country forum because they would only have 4 or 5 threads in them.

^^and your opinion in this case doesn't matter, sweetheart. ;)

but yeah, Gordon, it's pretty much what Morgan (rockon1824) said. it's probably better to keep things as balanced as possible, even if that means we can't have individual forums for genres which don't get much attention yet. that said, though, if we saw that interest in this or that genre grew and the current organisation wasn't good enough, we'd definitely consider changing the forums around, even adding others if necessary.

How about folk and hip-hop?
Early folk (Dylan and the like) is with Classic Rock and there really have been few (actually none that I can think of) threads on newer folk artists, so for the time being they go with indie in the Modern Rock forum. We've maybe had two threads on hip-hop in our entire existence.

That is cool, I don't really like that kind of music, I used to listen to those genres when I used to be an alcoholic.
