They're a very boring arena rock band to me. I guess thats how arena bands always go though.

I'd be lying if I said "Don't Stop Believin'" didn't give me a cheesy fun feeling.

The problem, for me, with Journey, is that Neal Schon's skills can't compensate for Steve Perry's cheese (I know he's a great vocalist, he's just so... "too much"). And all the real obsessed Journey fans I've encountered online were kind of demented idiots, so it did not help me like Journey more. I enjoyed their "best of" for a few weeks after I got it though.

Blasphemy! Journey is such a fun band.

As I just posted about in the Bon Jovi thread, this is one of those bands that people play on jukeboxes in college bars and everybody sings their drunk asses off as loud as possible. I can definitely appreciate any band that can unite an entire bar full of drunk kids. I just hope this tradition lasts long enough for you kids to be old enough to be in college and hanging out in college bars. I feel that generations of awesome boozing music are being lost!

You kids?

Didn't you just post that you were in the 7th grade when Mellon Collie came out? (I was actually about to post something about fearing being the oldest around here)

This kid has completed college. :$

And I'll take my music without the drunk kids, thank you. And ideally without Steve Perry. :P

I can't remember when that Pumpkins album came out but I know it was out when I was in 7th grade because that's what it reminds me of. May have come out before. Can't remember.

I'm 25 by the way. How old are you?

And I didn't mean "you kids" at everyone and certainly didn't mean it to be condescending towards anyone! Just an expression.

And music with the drunk kids when you are one of the drunk kids is certainly not a bad thing.

It came out in 1995.

I'm 28 (again, suspecting I'm the oldest...gawd that sucks)

I didn't think you were being condescending.

And if being drunk means enjoying either Bon Jovi or Journey, I'll take a soda, please :D

1995.... I think that would be around 7th grade for me. Too lazy to figure it out.

Hey now I never said that being drunk was necessary to enjoying Bon Jovi or Journey. :D

:haha I mean I can't really argue that Journey is an amazing band or anything. I'm just saying that I don't think they suck and that I think their music is fun. Nothing thought-provoking or jaw-dropping, just feel good music if you're in the right mood/setting.

Dinkin' flicka.

"Wheel in the Sky" and "Any Way You Want It" are the only songs I even remotely don't dislike. They're completely for corniness value though.

I like Journey. xD I got a little sick of their song "Don't Stop Believin'" though when the White Sox had won the world series. XD They kept playing it in the hallways between classes at my school. But I don't mind it anymore. xD

They had fun with their music, their songs are catchy to me. I must have had Wheel in the Sky stuck in my head for months now.
