It's not a major revamp or anything, but new things are always fun. While we're at it though, what would you personally like to see added to MT? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

All our layouts are either ugly or look flat out boring. When I try asking people to join the site, they'll often say no because they hate the default scheme. So we need to change some stuff.

Can you elaborate a bit on how you'd want it to work? I'm not completely adverse to the idea, but from what I've seen on other forums, it just turns into a popularity contest after a while. However, I could see it as being useful for who to listen to when getting recommendations for music, or a way to reward people who give crits in the WC and Recordings. Dan . . .How about to just the Aristocrats? Sorry, Dan. I lack the technological capabilities required in making a 3D monitor. XD Plus, you wouldn't really want to give me your address, now would you? If you have any other less impossible ideas though, I'd be happy to look into them.

A little abuse is inevitable, but I think MT is mature enough... I guess.

Should it only be used by certain users? Would it only be used in certain forums? They trust you more than I do. And MTEEGs have nothing on DIPSHITs . My friend went to Europe and named the British guards "Dudes In Puffy Silly Hats I'd Touch" . As for the rep thing: I think it should just be in the Music section of MT. "Hey, you suggested a good band to me! +1. Thanks for teaching me to tune my guitar! +1 Why'd you tell me to mod my wah pedal when I've no idea what to do!? -1" Maybe in Site Discussion, too but I'm not sure how it could work in there. Same for Icebox/Inferno.

I know people will negrep people for not liking a band they do or something related to that, but logically that shouldn't be encouraged and reps will be public so if you get negrepped for no reason other than that, the negrepper will get DESTROYED.

Hmm...I don't really agree there. "Reputation" is a measure of someone's upstandingness; people with a good reputation are generally honorable, trustworthy, reliable (or in this case, helpful). I don't see it as a measure of how clever someone is. To allow rep to be given for cute remarks would be to cheapen the rep given for things that genuinely deserve rep, such as critting someone's writing or helping someone find a new band to listen to or giving aid in how to tune a guitar. I like how Dan described it better. Anyone else have thoughts on this?
