Lets discuss folk metal bands.

Here's a great list to check out some of these bands.

Agalloch+
Borknagar (Origin non-growls)
Eluveitie
Elvenking+ (Winter Wake contains only a few growls)
Ensiferum+
Finntroll
Korpiklaani
Mägo de Oz* (All of their stuff is in Spanish)
Moonsorrow
Orphaned Land+ (Middle-Eastern with a touch of progressive, lyrics in English, Hebrew, and Latin)
Skyclad
Svartsot
Todesbonden*+ (Elements of folk but with many symphonic and middle-eastern elements as well)
Turisas
Týr*
Vintersorg+ (majority of albums, they combine elements of progressive as well)
Wintersun+

*Designates little to no growling.

Thanks for this part, I may actually go check those asterisked ones out :P

What exactly is folk metal though? Is it like metal with acoustic guitars? :P Or metal with socially conscious lyrics?

Quoting limited to 1 levels deep
It's often metal music that use traditional folk instruments, chord changes heavily used in folk, and (sometimes) pagan lyrics. Acoustic guitars are somewhat prevalent but not always.

Add Finntroll

Remove Blind Guardian :/

I am not sure about Wintersun though, I haven't listened to them enough to determine this

Yeah, I wouldn't place Blind Guardian in the folk metal category myself.

TROLLHAMMAREN!

I honestly think Folk Metal is just hilarious. The way they dress....is it really necessary? Like...yeah...I dunno. I don't see the point in dressing up that way.

It is, it's hilarious that way. You got to love the lyrics the most.

Seriously, Moonsorrow get all dressed up in chain mail, run around in forests, and then have some shirtless guy play keyboards. You have no idea what hilarity is until you've seen that.

Nu-Metal is the worst genre music has ever seen. Period.

Nah, no "period," because it's subjective. ;)

Even when your genre has Limp Bizkit.

Besides, nu-metal isn't even really a genre anyway. As much as all you metalheads don't want to accept it, it's part of the vast array of metal subgenres.

In other words, Fred Durst is my homeboy.

Whoa whoa whoa, are you going to have a folk metal list without Korpiklaani on it? Otherwise good list.

I liked Elvenkings newest album The Scythe as well as Korpiklaani's Korven Kuningas.
